Luke joined the partnership of Rout Milner Fitchett on 1 July 2020, after being with our company for 2 years, having been a barrister in Nelson and, before that, specialising in litigation at national corporate law firms.
Luke’s area of practice is employment and civil litigation. Luke gives practical advice to employers on the formation and structuring of workplace employment and health and safety matters. When disputes arise, Luke is an experienced negotiator and regularly appears for both employers and employees in the Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court. In general litigation, Luke represents clients in the District Court on departmental and health and safety prosecutions, he advices on local government/governance issues and judicial review. Luke is a steady hand in the District Court, High Court and Court of Appeal.
Outside of legal practice Luke has been a Nelson City Councillor since 2013, stepping down in 2019 to concentrate on the law and his family.
